After 12 teams, representing various departments across the plant, have met on the football field over the last three weeks, the mini-championship entitled “LIBERTY Cup” comes to an end.
The two sets of finalists had lots of support from colleagues and family members. The small final was held between the Internal Logistics and the Utility Plant while the large final was played between the representatives of the Sinter and Raw Materials and Hot Strip Mill.
As a reminder, in order to encourage playing sports and having a healthy lifestyle, LIBERTY Galaţi supports initiatives dedicated to promoting amateur sports among its own employees through the project “Playing sports”.

Gârboavele Trail Run, a first successful edition, supported by LIBERTY
Based on the programme ”Playing Sports”, LIBERTY Galați supports amateur sports projects that are proposed and implemented with the involvement of its own employees.
One of these projects that was welcomed by our company and implying a few months preparation and committment, the pilot edition of the running competition, taking place at Garboavele Forest, was held at national standards.
On a 14-kilometer long route, professionally marked and full of adrenaline, 110 Galati citizens competed, six of them being among our colleagues.
The Steel Plant volunteers were also present, 15 of them joining their efforts to the organizers, ensuring the arbitration and the assitance in a feeding (hidration) point on the route, aspects which cannot lack in a competition of such amplitude.
The first year of „Gârboavele Trail Run”, has exceeded everyone’s expectations, which calls for the need of continuing the series of these competitions, with the hope of a larger participation on the part of the running enthusiasts inside LIBERTY Galati.
Health and Safety Day
An extensive event, dedicated to the International Health and Safety Day was hosted at Otelul Stadium, where all the employees of the Steel Plant were invited to, along with their families. The event aimed to encourage outdoor movement and entertainment with the family, as well as at raising awareness on safety.
The day’s schedule included sporting events (fitness, aerobics, CrossFit, etc.), sports contests (badminton, football, relay, steeplechase), sporting and skill games, thematic exhibitions, live concerts.
