Ionel Borş is Country Manager – Governmental Affairs, responsible for liaising with the Romanian and EU authorities and employers’ and professional associations.
He graduated “Dunărea de Jos“ University of Galaţi, specializing in Metallurgy, and has a PhD in Metallurgical Sciences. Since joining the business in 1971, he has spent his entire career exclusively at the Galaţi Steel Plant.
Between 1992 and 1996 he led the Department of Quality of the Plant before spending three years as Commercial Director, coordinating sales, purchasing, logistics and transport activities.
He was appointed SIDEX Unique Administrator in 1999 and then Chief Executive Officer and Chief of the Restructuring and Privatization Team, Special Assistant in Human Resources Activities and Rationalization of Resources. In 2004 he was appointed Senior Executive Director, responsible for human resources activities, investments and development of the Plant.
In 2007 he is appointed Vice President of ArcelorMittal and Head of Human Resources in Eastern Europe (Romania, Czech Republic, Poland, Macedonia).
He has been Country Manager since 2010 and deals with LIBERTY Galaţi’s engagement with Government authorities, EU institutions, EUROFER, employers’ organizations, energy contracts and natural gas.
